This bespoke white gold, diamond and vitreous enamel pendant was commissioned by a client in Dubai as a gift for his wife, who loved the desert rose flower. This is a perfect example of an international client where all communication took place by video calls, emails or by messages. The only negative to never meeting the client is that we never see their face light up when they open our gift packaging for the first time.

His brief was to create a pendant about 5cm in length inspired by the desert rose, in the “Tara Lois romantic elven style”. He asked for it to be created in white gold and as little of the metal as possible to be touching the skin because of the heat in the UAE. In response, he received a visual presentation with 3 digital designs and after discussion and a little refinement, he approved this design .

The white gold filigree frame is rhodium plated and curved so that only the outside edges are resting on the skin. The desert rose flower has 7 layers of vitreous enamel made up of 3 shades of pink ground glass, fused together at 800 degrees Celsius. Underneath the final layer are tiny specks of pure silver foil, which add a sense of depth and reflection. The diamond also has perfect colour, clarity and cut.

The pendant was shipped and insured with the company who manage the Ferrari account, which might explain how it arrived ahead of schedule, and definitely in time for Christmas.
