The design of this pendant is inspired by sunrise over Zebbug hill on the smaller Maltese island of Gozo.
The silhouette resembles this hill with steep sides, gently tapering into the adjoining valley. The contrasting glass represents the crystal-clear blue seen early in the morning, highlighted by colours of the remaining sunrise.
Created using sustainable satin finish sterling silver, the pendant is formed using repoussé, where silver sheet is hammered by hand into the chosen shape. World famous Maltese glass was carefully chosen for this design and re-worked in our studio.
This pendant was developed to support MICAS, the new Malta International Contemporary Art Space. However, it inspired a limited collection of silver and glass jewellery based on the shapes of Malta’s Hills and landscape, such as the Malta Gordon Hill silver & blue glass pendant.
