Gordon Hill in Gozo, Malta, is home to a lighthouse, and the way the sun sets over the hill just as the light starts to turn was the inspiration for this pendant.
The sunset is symbolised by the recycled red coral and the light turning is represented in contemporary filigree and spiralling bail.
The main pendant is created using traditional repoussé to shape satin finished silver sheet into a raised form.
As scuba divers we hate seeing coral jewellery, but this piece is from an antique necklace given to me, so we hope to share the beauty with non-divers, without doing any further damage to this species.
A similar pendant in the shape of this hill is Malta Gordon Hill silver & blue glass pendant.
Approx size: 5.5cm (2.25”) long including bail and 3cm (1.25”) wide. Created by hand in recycled 925 / sterling silver and recycled antique coral.
