This commission was an absolute pleasure to design and create.

The client’s mother’s antique ruby wedding anniversary ring had a vibrant red ruby surrounded by smaller high quality diamonds. The solitaire had been her grandmother’s engagement ring. Both were obviously of great sentimental importance, but she could not wear either of them because they were both too small.

The challenge was to create a modern design in the form of an open ring, which could be easily adjusted in size because she has arthritis and, so that she could wear it with other rings.

In one photo she is wearing this ring with her mother’s engagement and wedding rings. This style could equally suit a contemporary engagement ring.

The client loved the design, which was created by hand, twisting and bending the original rings and joining them together with a contemporary swirl of recycled gold ribbon.
