These beautiful earrings tell a secret and fascinating story of Malta today – a fusion of the ancient and modern. 30 million years of Malta’s ancient past has been fused with modern design in this collection to create these beautiful sustainable silver stud earrings.

The second oldest bedrock forming Malta is quarried for building stone and occasionally a cavern is found which was the inspiration for the shapes of these earrings. Stalagmites and stalactites, which are sometimes found in the caves, are represented by the contemporary stylised surface embossing decoration.

The earrings are created using state-of-the-art CAD drawings to create 3D printed wax models. As an international award-winning jeweller, Tara Lois then casts these by hand using ancestral jewellery making techniques in her Gozo workshop and the result of each casting is unique, with slight variations to texture and finish. Other than these minor differences these are designs which are repeated.

Other gender neutral earrings, ring, bracelet and pendants are also available in this collection which include actual stalactite stone.
